zyngaSocial gaming company Zynga is to shut down OMGPOP.com, the online gaming portal of casual online multiplayer games developer OMGPOP.

According to the TechCrunch.com website, the portal will be shut down permanently on September 3 – just 18 months after Zynga purchased OMGPOP, the firm behind mobile game Draw Something, for $210 million (€162 million).

Zynga said that players would still be able to access the Draw Something and Draw My Thing games after the closure of the portal.

However, some games on the online portal will be dropped earlier than others. Cupcake Corner, Gem Rush, Pool World Champ and Snoops will all be removed by the end of August.
