iGaming software provider NYX Gaming Group has reportedly purchased struggling social poker software developer and operator Zen Entertainment Incorporated for an undisclosed sum. Stockholm-based NYX Gaming is the firm behind the Open Gaming System (OGS) mobile and online casino games service and will purportedly combine the acquisition, which filed for Chapter Eleven bankruptcy protection in January, with its NextGen Gaming division in Nevada. Numerous reports have NYX Gaming investigating the possibility of developing social and real-money poker products and it currently has a partnership with operator Nevada Gold Casino Group. For its part, Zen Entertainment operates a network of subscription-based poker sites and admitted in January that its business model had been ‘unsuccessful’. “I am delighted to secure the acquisition of Zen Entertainment Incorporated, a transaction that supports the expansion of the group business into the emerging online gaming markets within North America,” said Matt Davey, Chief Executive Officer for NYX Gaming.
